The early years are a crucial time for children’s development. Victoria Montessori School provides a blended approach to teaching the whole child that incorporates the Montessori Methods and the Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years Act. Students are engaged in active learning with the use of hands-on experiences with people, materials, events and ideas. Students become independent thinkers and doers that will help them develop the necessary skills required in the later years

Montessori Approach

The goal of the Montessori philosophy is to develop the whole personality of each child. Each individual student is different, and should therefore be respected for their uniqueness and ability to learn at their own pace. Montessori based classrooms provide a prepared environment where children are free to respond to their natural drives to work and learn. The children’s’ inherent love of learning is encouraged by giving them opportunities to engage in spontaneous, meaningful activities under the guidance of a trained Montessori teachers. Through their work, the students develop concentration, motivation, perseverance, and discipline. Within this framework of order, they progress at their own pace and rhythm, according to their own individual capabilities.

The child’s growth and development are achieved through exercises in:

  • Practical Life
  • Sensorial
  • Languages including French and Chinese
  • Mathematics
  • Cultural Studies
  • Physical Education
